So I have used this MacBook for 4 years(and planning to use it for 1-3 more years) I went for a part time job but I didn't have enough money to build my own pc.

So I decided to upgrade it with a Samsung 850 EVO 500gb.

Original internal:

Top left is my HDD. Top right is the CD - DVD drive.

Originally I wanted to replace my HDD with SSD. But I still wanted the 1tb for storage. I decided to buy a Caddy Bay to replace the dvd drive.

However when I was adding the caddy bag, I accidentally damaged my hard drive sata flex cable, so I had to wait for the replacement to come.

And once that comes I just added my SSD in!

500GB SSD + 1 TB HDD at the expense of my dvd drive.

Used to take 50 seconds to startup from boot to OSX, now it takes 10 seconds
Used to take around 1.5 minutes to startup from boot to Windows, now it also takes 10 seconds.
What used to take 3 minutes to change between OSX and Windows now takes 30 seconds.

Other than waiting for items to arrive (Caddy Bay took 2 weeks and Flex Cable took 1 week), this was a pretty fun hands on experience for me

This is such a worthy upgrade as I like to use OSX for school work while using Windows for games. Switching them in under 1 minute makes it much easier to swap OS now.

What do you guys think about it?
