Okay so i got this other laptop, i barely use it cause well it's too slow.
It came with Windows Vista but currently upgraded to Windows 8.1
It runs smooth with the current version but this one night i smelt something burning while i was playing SA-MP on it, so i figured the operation system is making my motherboard burn.

Need the tech experts advice on what should i do.
Should i continue using windows 8.1 Pro or try and use a lower version like Windows XP.

I hate having it here not in use in terms of game usage.

Computer Specs:

Code: Select all

Processor: Genuine Intel(R) CPU T250 @1.60GHZ 1.60GHZ
RAM Installed: 1.50GB
System type: 32-bit Operating System, x86-Based Processor
HDD Space: 73.9GB currently have 42.7GB free, also i have 99.mb system reserved.

Why do people downgrade to XP... NEVER do that, i repeat NEVER. XP is dead forget about it.
You have 2 options:
1) Buy 512MB ram and continue using WIN 8 or WIN 7. 2GB is recommended for these 2 operating systems.
2) Downgrade to Windows Vista, cause it was your LAPTOPS first OS.

If something is burning inside it can be dust (well not burning but smells weird), try to clean your inside hardware with compressed air.

XP is great, if your computer takes it that is..

You should take it apart clean it and put gel on the processor and downgrade to W7
I'm so stoned I don't remember what I said in the beginning of this sentence.

The main issue with XP is that XP is not secure, at all.

Windows Vista improved that. 7,8 and 10 improved it even further.

Windows per definition is not secure, if you have the administrator level, you can do whatever you want. Operating systems shouldn't be like that, in Linux for example there's an advanced permission system that prevents some stuff from happening, that does not exist in Windows.

I would recommended 7 over XP.

I'm going to take the advice and revert back to Windows 7 and try take it apart for cleaning. (It's old but why get rid of it)
